Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers about membership, contractor searches, billing, overdue invoices, privacy and disputes.

Getting Started

What is Insulation Blacklist?

A business-to-business database where eligible suppliers can report qualifying overdue contractor invoices and verified businesses can purchase database searches. Findings are limited to records available in this database.

Who can apply for supplier membership?

Insulation distributors, insulation manufacturers, spray foam equipment and parts suppliers, and building material suppliers. Every application requires administrator review and approval.

Are contractors eligible for supplier membership?

Not under the initial supplier membership rules. Contractors can use the contractor registration and dispute process without becoming reporting members.

Does applying give immediate access?

No. Membership must be manually approved after business verification.

Is a company EIN required?

No. Providing an EIN is optional and intended for private administrative verification.

Can a contractor register even with no reported invoices?

Yes. Contractor registration is intended to be free, and registering does not imply any delinquency. Mobile-number SMS verification is a planned requirement; availability depends on portal launch.

Searches and Pricing

How much is a completed contractor search?

$25 per completed detailed contractor database report, including searches that return no qualifying delinquency records. Potential matches may be reviewed without a charge.

When is a $25 fee charged?

After you select a contractor match and confirm the disclosed charge to open its detailed report. Typing, browsing suggestions, and reviewing possible matches are free.

What if the database finds no qualifying reports?

The result states: “No qualifying delinquency reports found in this database.” It does not mean the contractor has good credit or no unpaid debts elsewhere.

How do approved members pay?

Approved members in good standing can receive a consolidated itemized monthly invoice or choose credit-card payment per completed report. Card processing fees may apply where disclosed.

Can I reopen a report I already purchased?

Yes. Sign in to the purchasing account and open the saved report from Billing and search history. Reopening that saved report does not create another $25 charge. It shows the original saved results and date; it does not refresh the database findings. A new detailed search requires a separate charge confirmation.

Where do I enter the contractor name to search?

Approved members use Contractor search from their dashboard. Enter the contractor name, review the free possible matches, and select the correct business before confirming a $25 detailed report. The administrator's membership application list is not the contractor search form.

What should I do when contractors have similar names?

Compare the business name and location shown in the free match list. Separate businesses can have the same name. If you cannot identify the correct business, stop before confirming a paid report and contact support@insulationblacklist.com. Similar names alone do not establish that two records are the same legal entity.

Does a saved report update when information changes?

No. A purchased report is a dated snapshot. Reopening it is free and shows the original findings. Watchlist alerts do not update that snapshot or purchase a new report; a new detailed report requires separate confirmation of the $25 charge.

What happens if my monthly account becomes overdue?

Monthly billing privileges may be suspended. You can still sign in, update your reports and use eligible tools, but new detailed searches require advance credit-card payment until the account is settled.

Can businesses buy a report without permanent membership?

Verified business guest purchases are planned. Guest checkout remains subject to completion of business verification, payment integration, security testing, and launch readiness; it is not generally available yet.

Reporting and Accuracy

What invoices can suppliers report?

Qualifying contractor invoices at least 60 days past the invoice due date. Reports become searchable after submission and automated validation; there is no additional waiting period.

Does it cost money to report or update invoices?

No. Approved supplier members can submit and update qualifying reports without a reporting fee.

Can I upload invoices in bulk?

The platform supports spreadsheet-oriented reporting workflows, including CSV/Excel imports. Accounting-software synchronization is planned and should not be treated as active unless enabled and verified.

How are partial payments handled?

A reliable update reduces the reported outstanding invoice balance. Other outstanding invoices are not automatically cleared.

What happens when an invoice is paid in full?

A reliably matched zero balance removes that invoice from active member-visible delinquency totals. A restricted internal audit record may be retained.

Will an invoice disappear if it is absent from an import?

No. Missing rows or failed synchronization alone do not delete outstanding invoices. Corrections and clearing require reliable matching and appropriate status evidence.

How are aging categories shown?

The report separates overdue invoices into non-overlapping aging buckets covering days 60–89, 90–119, and 120 or more days past due.

What if reported information has not been confirmed recently?

Reports may show a last-confirmed date and flag old information. Excessively stale, unconfirmed amounts may be excluded from current confirmed totals.

Privacy, Alerts and Disputes

Will other suppliers see who reported a contractor?

No. Reporting supplier identities are hidden from other businesses' search results. The administrator can see them internally, and a reported contractor may receive the supplier identity privately in its notice or dispute communication.

Can contractors challenge a reported invoice?

Yes. Use the private link in the contractor notice to open the secure dispute process. Unresolved disputes are flagged and excluded from confirmed delinquency totals. A supplier response alone does not close a dispute; an administrator records the reviewed outcome. Document uploads are available only after secure upload activation; otherwise contact support to arrange secure submission.

Can the assistant look up or change private account records?

The signed-in assistant can show your own billing, saved-report links, watchlist and report/dispute summaries. Administrators can see review counts. Contractor help uses the specific private notice link. Private summaries stay within this website and are not sent to the AI provider. The assistant cannot identify other suppliers, verify bank transactions, approve membership, resolve disputes, change records or purchase a report. Use the protected website forms for actions; do not put private records or verification codes in chat.

Will a contractor be notified of a report?

The system is designed to notify contractors when qualifying invoices are reported and when important aging thresholds are reached. Notices and delivery depend on valid contact information and operating integrations.

What are contractor watchlists?

Contractors searched by an approved member are added automatically to that member's private watchlist. New verified delinquency information may trigger an alert; the alert itself does not purchase a report.

Can other members see who searched a contractor?

No. Paid reports may show a privacy-protected count of other distinct approved businesses that searched the contractor in the preceding 90 days. Small counts are suppressed; search activity alone does not imply credit risk.
